Laoban Soundsystem Debuts at Get It Louder Beijing
Beijing, Friday, September 17, 2010 - ABOUT
With Laoban Soundsystem, Designer Matt Hope (http://matthope.org/) and Producer Jon Phillips (http://rejon.org) have crafted a powerful and extensible platform for collaboration. The 6000-watt Soundsystem is built for sharing, following the guidelines established by the Qi Hardware (http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/Main_Page) initiative, in which products are developed and released under the copyleft umbrella. As such, Laoban Soundsystem is able to be produced, according to it's official documentation, by anyone seeking to do so.
The Laoban project has been picking up steam in 2010, and it's creators are happy to officially release the Laoban Soundsystem Home Page (http://laoban-soundsystem.com). This is the latest page to be implemented via Aiki Framework (http://aikiframework.org/). Visitors to Laoban-Soundsystem.com will find plans and steps to take in order to produce the speakers, as well as documentation of Laoban-powered events and international goings-on.
Laoban Soundsystem Developer and Fabricatorz Founder, Jon Phillips, says this about the speakers:
"This project has been two years in the making. Despite the economic downturn, after intense rounds of development in the US and China the Laoban Soundsystem has risen like a phoenix from the Beijing desert. All the copyleft plans are freely available, and the 6000 watts of power will be on hand to boost everyone's morale to share and collaborate."
Laoban Soundsystem 2.0 will celebrate it's Release at an opening in Beijing at 7:00pm on Sunday, September 19, as a part of Get It Lounder 2010 (http://www.getitlouder.com/).
